THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GEE FOR GO (M Yeni) and THE VILLA GRAND (L Hewitson) were slow into stride. b) SPREE (R Simons) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey R Simons reported that SPREE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) HOTTENTOTS HOLLAND (C Storey) raced wide around the turn and into the straight and thereafter Jockey Storey reported that HOTTENTOTS HOLLAND made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. c) At approximately the 200m, HOT GOSSIP (C Maujean) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed between SOUTHERN CHARM (R Danielson) and GLOWTORIA (G Lerena) which hung out from the 300m. Thereafter shortly before the finish line, GLOWTORIA which continued to hang out and SOUTHERN CHARM which shifted in away from the crop, came together and brushed. d) SOUTHERN CHARM (R Danielson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) At approximately the 300m, TWELVE OAKS (L Hewitson) was carried in and thereafter tightened for galloping room on the inside of WAY OF THE WORLD (G Lerena) which hung in badly from the 400m despite numerous efforts from Jockey Lerena to straighten this filly. d) PRINCESS NICOLE (C Bantam) hung in from the 400m. e) ROCK YOU (M van Rensburg) shifted both ways away from the crop from the 150m. f) At approximately the 100m, Jockey M van Rensburg (ROCK YOU) briefly dropped his left side rein. g) WAY OF THE WORLD (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
