THE GREAT DUCHESS was stubborn loading. In view of the performance of WATER LILY LAKE, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. An investigation will be opened into Jockey van der Merwe's riding of GOODNESS ME. Shortly before the finish line, Apprentice Ngcobo, the rider of PASSION, lost his left side stirrup iron, which he regained in the pull up area. MOSS GAS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer Peter appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding this filly's improved performance. He explained to the Board that this filly prefers the turn and undertook that he will endeavour to run her similarly in future when she has a good draw. Notwithstanding this explanation, Assistant Trainer Peter's attention was drawn to the rules pertaining to In and Out running. Vet: WATER LILY LAKE - not striding out left front. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
