THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CHAMPAGNE DANCER (*K Strydom) and WHISPERING WAVE (*J Jacobs) lost 1 length, respectively. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) GIRL FROM IPANEMA (E Ngwane) took an awkward stride entering the straight. b) COOL APACHE (D Schwarz) was briefly baulked at the 400m. Thereafter, this filly was switched in to continue its run and finished its race off strongly. c) PINCH ME (L Hewitson) shifted out away from the crop in the concluding stages. d) Jockey E Ngwane (GIRL FROM IPANEMA / 8.75 lengths) and Jockey S Moodley (STRAWBERRYPOPTART / 10.45 lengths) reported that their respective mounts took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey G Wright signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse QUE FOR YOU more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey G Wright , the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey G Wright struck the horse QUE FOR YOU, the distance over which and manner in which Jockey G Wright used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed. f) PINCH ME (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer N Kotzen advised (TN). g) COOL APACHE (D Schwarz), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
