LIGHT HOUSE LADY, WONDER WORKER, ROY'S DOLLAR, WILLOWGRANGE and REHOBOTH BEACH were slow into stride. ENLIGHTENMENT lost one length. LOVE LYRIC was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Govender was questioned with regard to the improved performance of LOVE LYRIC compared to this filly's two previous performances on the 28 April 2017 and 20 May 2017. He explained that LOVE LYRIC was unsuited to the polytrack in her penultimate run. He further stated that in her last run, which was in a mixed handicap, she had been drawn poorly and as such was forced to race well off the pace in a large field. Today, the better draw, a drop in her merit rating and racing against fillies and mares, had accounted for the improvement shown. The Board noted Mr Govender's explanation. QUEEN'S BEACH returned post race having cast the right fore shoe. WONDER WORKER was hanging in over the final 200 metres, shifted inwards carrying ROY'S PONY and ROY'S GOLD inwards, which resulted in ROY'S PONY and REHOBOTH BEACH making contact and REHOBOTH BEACH becoming unbalanced shortly before the finish. Apprentice Arries signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention, in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the runners on his inside shortly before the finish. He was suspended for a period of 7 days. LIGHT HOUSE LADY raced with a tongue tie.
