THE STARTER REPORTED: a) EXCLUSIVE QUANTITY (D Dillon) lost 3 lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Jockey D De Gouveia reported that SNIPER SHOT (3.85 lengths) made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) Jockey A Arries signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse SILENT CRUSADE more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey A Arries, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey A Arries struck the horse SILENT CRUSADE, the distance over which and manner in which Jockey A Arries used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed. c) PRICELESS RULER (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D R Drier advised (SC). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) SILENT CRUSADE raced without cheek pieces (advised 25.09.20/10h40). b) EXCLUSIVE QUANTITY Jockey D Dillon weighed out at 57.9kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight of 57kg.
