THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MAGARI (*K Strydom) and REFINERY (E Ngwane) lost 1 length, respectively. b) LEGISLATE'S DANCE (S Moodley) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) In a tightly bunched field, into the first turn, ASTUTE PALACE (R Danielson) was bumped in by SPIRIT OF MY FATE (S Veale) when awkwardly placed on the inside of GINGER ALLEY (J Samuel) and INSTINCTIVE POWER (A Arries). The Board has adjourned to review this incident. b) SILVER PALACE (A Marcus) over-raced in the early and middle stages. Thereafter, this gelding raced awkwardly between the 600m and 450m. c) RED ROCK CANYON (K de Melo) over-raced in the early stages. d) In the concluding stages, CAPTAIN SEAGER (L Hewitson) shifted out away from the crop. As a consequence of this, CAPTAIN SEAGER (L Hewitson) and THE HITMAN (*J Jacobs) raced in close proximity to each other to the finish and thereafter, THE HITMAN (*J Jacobs) was bumped out by CAPTAIN SEAGER (L Hewitson) at the finish and shortly after the finish. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board into this incident which was followed by an objection being lodged by Apprentice J Jacobs on behalf of the second placed horse (THE HITMAN) against the winner (CAPTAIN SEAGER) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Board considered the distance between THE HITMAN (*Jacobs) and CAPTAIN SEAGER (L Hewitson) at, and the proximity of this incident to, the finish. Consequently, the Board could not be satisfied that but for the above incident, THE HITMAN would have finished ahead of CAPTAIN SEAGER, therefore it overruled the objection and allowed the Judge's result to stand. Apprentice J Jacobs's deposit was refunded. e) Jockey M Yeni reported that LINNBARA (4.45 lengths) changed stride continuously in the running. Trainer N Kotzen was advised to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this gelding on return to the stables. f) In view of the performance of SPIRIT OF MY FATE (S Veale) (11.25 lengths, 12/10 in the betting), Trainer D Drier will be advised to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this gelding on return to the stables. g) Assistant Trainer L Karriem, acting on behalf of Trainer A Fortune, signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1, in that she failed to notify the Chief Stipendiary Steward within 2 days that the horse REFINERY is a gelding. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. h) CAPTAIN SEAGER (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P Lafferty advised (DA). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) MONTANA SKY raced without blinkers (advised 27.09.20/8h27). b) LINNBARA was ridden by Jockey M Yeni. Reserve runner (advised 27.09.20/8h59). c) REFINERY is a gelding. Gelded on the 04.06.2020 (advised 27.09.2020). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) CAPTAIN SEAGER : Cut into left hind. Treated with domosedan and finadyne.
