BUFFALO SOLDIER was slow into stride. LAST TIGER and MACDUFF (AUS) lost one length. DOING IT FOR DAN was difficult to load and thereafter lost two lengths. Trainer Goosen was advised to re-school this gelding. DOOSRA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. WALTZED HOME shifted in shortly after the start, resulting in JUST ASK ME being carried in and becoming cramped, and having to be eased. As a result KINGSTON BOY, racing on the inside of JUST ASK ME, was momentarily cramped for galloping room. Jockey Godden signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention, in that as the rider of WALTZED HOME, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to JUST ASK ME shortly after the start. He was suspended for a period of 7 days. DOING IT FOR DAN was switched out off the heels of JUST ASK ME, to obtain a clear run near the 200 metre mark. In view of the performances of JUST ASK ME and LAST TIGER, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings. Jockey Fayd'Herbe signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for a contravention in that, whilst riding MACDUFF (AUS), he used his crop with excessive force in the closing stages. Vet: JUST ASK ME - not striding out left fore. LAST TIGER and PILLAR OF HERCULES - coughing. Scratched: NEVER SETTLE - coughing. DANCE ON AIR - foot sore.
