ARTIFICIO, MISTER LISTER and JUSTIFY were slow into stride. HELLO was slow losing one length. Jockey Delpech reported that SESS (AUS) compounded badly in the concluding stages. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. Assistant Trainer Azzie was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this colt on return to stables. Jockey Brown reported that HELLO raced with its tongue over the bit. In the concluding stages, VICTOR YOUNG had to ease when awkwardly placed between TIGER JET, which rolled out, and MONEY MATTERS, which shifted in marginally. The Board was of the opinion that this was a racing incident and that blame could not be apportioned to any individual rider. TIGER JET was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: SESS (AUS) - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: SYNERGY - sore left hind muscle. DEVIL'S PEAK - ineligible, winner 13 July 2017, Vaal Racecourse. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
