THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) An Inquiry will be opened in order to establish why SERGEANT YORK (*L Ferraris) had to ease at the 600m. b) Apprentice J Gates (GLOUCESTERSHIRE) briefly dropped his right side rein at the 300m. c) In view of the performance of ASHANTI (A Marcus) (3.40 lengths, 2/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning WYLIE'S LASS, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer P M Gadsby was advised. (Suspension dates:- 01.10.2020 to the 29.11.2020, bdi) e) Jockey L Hewitson signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse FOXY LADY more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey L Hewitson the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey L Hewitson struck the horse FOXY LADY, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey L Hewitson used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. f) RAMSAY (*K Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (SC).
