FULL COUNT and SECRET COVE were both slow into stride. INTERCEPT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Puller was questioned regarding the improved performance of INTERCEPT, the winner. Mr Puller explained to the Board that he had changed tactics for today's race and raced this filly from off the pace and this, in his opinion, coupled with the weaker field, had accounted for the improved performance. The future performances of this filly will be monitored. ROYAL BODYGUARD over-raced in the early stages. MAJESTIC MOON was continually baulked for a clear run between the 400 and 200 metre marks. MAJESTIC MOON was accidentally struck on the muzzle by Jockey Neethling, rider of EDGE OF GLORY, near the 250 metre mark. Jockey Veale, the rider of WHITEWATER RAPIDS, accidentally got his crop caught up in his reins in the final 50 metres. RATSO RIZZO was hanging out throughout. In view of the performance of RATSO RIZZO, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Apprentice Schwarz reported that he felt something amiss with SECRET COVE in the closing stages and as a result he did not persevere with his ride. INTERCEPT returned post race having cast the left front shoe. Jockey Godden signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for a contravention in that he failed to ride LIONS DEN out to the end of the race thereby prejudicing his chances of finishing in 5th place. Vet: RAZZO RIZZO - nothing obvious detected. SECRET COVE - coughing. EPIC SWORD - cut into left hind and coughing. Scratched: ROY IS SLOW - insufficient recovery time - raced 5.8.2017.
