BURRA BOY was restless in the stalls. AZNERAK was difficult to load. Trainer Bosch advised to re-school this mare. PHOEBUS reared in the stalls. SPECIAL ENCOUNTER became restless and after the start was effected then reared and jumped awkwardly, losing 5 lengths resulting in Jockey Mgudlwa losing his foot out of the right stirrup iron, which he regained shortly thereafter. LET'S GO WEST was slow into stride. STORM OUTGOING and PERCY JACKSON both lost 1 length. LET'S GO WEST was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Dixon was questioned regarding the improved performance of LET'S GO WEST, the winner. Mr Dixon explained to the Board that this was only this gelding's third run for his yard and that in his previous start, after being restless in the stalls, was hanging and racing wide, this gelding had compounded. Today the fitting of blinkers had, in his opinion, accounted for the improved performance, Mr Dixon has undertaken to race LET'S GO WEST fitted with blinkers in future. The future performances of LET'S GO WEST will be monitored. Jockey Kennedy reported HOLD THE LINE took no interest in running. In view of the performance of THE LION GUARD, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Sturgeon reported COP THIS was not striding out freely in running. COP THIS was hanging in, in the straight. PHOEBUS was hanging in throughout. Vet: HOLD THE LINE - nothing obvious detected. THE LION GURD - not striding out left fore. COP THIS - lame right fore. Scratched: TROPICAL'S SON - elevated temperature.
