AFRICAN MESSIAH jumped awkwardly outwards losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. LANCER was slow losing one length. TUBULAR BELL was slow into stride. RATTLESEATTLE was hanging out on the bend. When attempting a narrow run at about the 250m BLACK BELT was forced to ease off the heels of HADARAT, which rolled out. Approaching the 200m, GIMME THE LIGHT became severely cramped for galloping room and made contact with RATTLESNAKE, which shifted out, and HADARAT, which was hanging in, changed stride and shifted in. GIMME THE LIGHT, RATTLESNAKE and HADARAT became unbalanced as a result of this incident. LANCER, which was hanging in and difficult to assist, shifted in sharply in the concluding stages. Jockey van der Hoven appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger measures to keep his mount on a straight course in future. FLASH TWICE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Fourie rode AFRICAN MESSAIAH. The Club's Medical Officer stood down Jockey Danielson on medical grounds. Scratched: SUAVE - lame on the right fore. HOTEL CIPRIANI - shin sore. HIGHLAND SPRING - injured eye. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure.
