Both starting stall banks had to be shifted out prior to the start of this race, causing a delay. CHICAGO WEST (O Noach) nudged the front gate open, dislodged jockey Noach and canterered a short distance before being taken in hand, examined by the course veterinary surgeon, passed fit to race, causing a further delay. DAWN WALL (J Bekker) was slow into stride. WYLIE'S TRACTOR (K de Melo) pulled hard in the early stages. Between the 300m and 100m, ESSOS (R Khathi) was carried out by CONTACT ZONE (S Mbhele), which was hanging out and proved difficult to assist. Thereafter, CONTACT ZONE (S Mbhele), despite Jockey Mbhele's efforts, continued to shift out to the finish. At the 150m, GREENLIGHTFLASH (A Domeyer) and BROMANCE (L Mxothwa) were severely cramped for galloping room and had to check on the inside of SHOTOVER JET (D Ashby) which shifted in. MOUNT GRACE (*J Solomons), which was following, had to be steadied as a consequence. Jockey D Ashby was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of SHOTOVER JET he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to GREENLIGHTFLASH (A Domeyer) and BROMANCE (L Mxothwa) at the 150m. Jockey Ashby signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates: 07/10/2020 to 13/10/2020 inclusive) Jockey G Cheyne, the rider of GALLIC TRIBE, reported that his saddle slipped back in the running. This was confirmed by a member of the Stipendiary Board. In view of the performance of TRAVEL MASTER (A Marcus) (Betting 18/10 : Distance 9.30) which came under pressure and was encouraged from the 600m, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. CONTACT ZONE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised.
