YOUNG EAGLE lost two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. SEA LORD lost one length. At approximately the 1000m, Jockey Khumalo felt something amiss with MOROCCAN SPICE and he eased this gelding out of the race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. In view of the performance of GRAF SPEE, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer van Heerden was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. Jockey Zackey reported that ESCAMILLO made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. SEA LORD shifted both ways away from the crop in the concluding stages. EMMELINE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. GRAF SPEE raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind. Vet: GRAF SPEE - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. MOROCCAN SPICE - abnormal respiratory noise. ESCAMILLO - no respiratory noise detected post race.
