Jockey Wrogemann reported that CASTLE COOLE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. At approximately the 500m, LEVENDI was brushed inwards by EIGHT CITIES, which commenced to hang in. Thereafter approaching the 300m, LEVENDI, which shifted out away from the crop, and EIGHT CITIES, which continued to hang in, came together and bumped. As a consequence of this, ARTAX, who was racing on their inside, had to ease for a number of strides. In the concluding stages, ARTAX was awkwardly placed between SWING VOTE and LEVENDI. In view of the performance of ARTAX, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. Trainer Azzie was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this colt on return to stables. ASHOKA was baulked for a clear run from the 200m to the finish. DARKEST HOUR switched out at the 300m to continue its run. DARKEST HOUR and EIGHT CITIES were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
