Fair start for all runners. Jockey S Veale (DARKEST DAWN) dropped his crop at the 300m. Jockey S Brown reported that DIRTY RASCAL (14.30 lengths) took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. SPYDAS CORNER (*L Ferraris), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Howells advised (TN). CUBANELLE was ridden by Jockey G Wright (advised 04.10.20/8h28). COMBAT UNIT was ridden by Jockey S Randolph. Reserve runner (advised 04.10.20/8h24). DIRTY RASCAL raced equipped with blinkers (advised 04.10.20/8h29) and was ridden by Jockey S Brown. Reserve runner (advised 04.10.20/8h29). ANIMUS is a gelding. Gelded 30.06.2020. To be investigated. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : DIRTY RASCAL : Nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHINGS : CAMORA : Change of surface (Trainer - 03.10.20/10h27). TIME TAKER : Change of surface (Trainer - 04.10.20/8h08). BOMBAY CIRCUS : Change of surface (Trainer - 04.10.20/7h57). FREEDOM DANCER : Change of surface (Trainer - 04.10.20/7h49). BARRINGTON : Change of surface (Trainer - 04.10.20/7h49). After the running of this Race, the Riders raised further concerns regarding the going of the track. In this regard, it was established by the Riders whilst riding in the Race, that the going which appeared to be visually better than that on the inside of the course, was practically as inconsistent as 4 horse widths of the inside running rail. Accordingly, a protest was lodged by the Riders on the grounds of the track being inconsistent. A panel consisting of Stipendiary Stewards, Riders, Trainers, the Course Veterinary Surgeon, and the Race Meeting Representative was convened in order to decide what action to take in respect of this protest. After discussions with the relevant parties, it was established that only a minimal improvement could be made to the track with further maintenance. However, after consulting with the Riders, this improvement would not have been significant enough to render the track sufficiently consistent to race. Accordingly, in the best interest of safety to the Riders and horse welfare, the decision was taken to abandon this race meeting.
