a) SO SMOOTH (K de Melo) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) DON'T TOUCH ME (S Moodley) was hanging in from the 400m. b) RAISEAHALLELUJAH (W Kennedy) was hanging in from the 300m. c) Jockey R Danielson reported that LUXEMBURG (8.40 lengths) did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey S Moodley (DON'T TOUCH ME) appeared before the Board and was reminded of his obligations regarding his mounts cantering in front of the grandstand prior to the running of each race. e) Jockey A Arries signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse GONTRAVELIN more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey A Arries the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey A Arries struck the horse GONTRAVELIN, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey A Arries used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. f) CHAPTER AND VERSE (A Marcus), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Roberts advised (DA). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) CAPE FOULWIND was ridden by Jockey E Ngwane (advised 06.10.20/11h02). b) KOBENS EXPRESS raced equipped with blinkers (advised 07.10.20/7h53). c) GONTRAVELIN was ridden by Jockey A Arries (advised 05.10.20/12h14). d) RED VISION was ridden by Apprentice K Strydom (claiming 4kg).
