The start of this Race was delayed due to the previous Race delays, and the Veterinary Surgeon having to re-fit the tongue tie on STORM RULER, as well as SWEET REFRAIN being removed from the starting stalls to be examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and re-saddled. CIPHER was slow into stride. WILLOUGHTON lost one length. SWEET REFRAIN became restless after CIPHER kicked the back gates and as a result was removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and was reloaded. DANCE OFF was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Approaching the 250 metre mark, ROY'S STORMER shifted out slightly carrying WILLOUGHTON outwards. This resulted in WILLOUGHTON and a tiring ROY'S AMAZING ASH making contact and ROY'S AMAZING ASH having to be eased. Thereafter approaching the 200 metre mark ROY'S STORMER continued to shift out carrying WILLOUGHTON outwards onto STORM RULER. Jockey Mgudlwa, the rider of ROY'S STORMER, appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to take stronger measures to prevent his horse from shifting ground in races in future. In view of the performances of ROY'S DOLLAR and ROY'S AMAZING ASH, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. Vet: WILLOUGHTON - coughing. ROY'S DOLLAR - not striding out right fore. ROY'S AMAZING ASH - nothing obvious detected.
