THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start for all runners. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) IMPRESSIVE DUCHESS (M V'Rensburg) was baulked between the 400m and the 300m. Thereafter, this filly switched out to continue its run at the 250m. b) Jockey K de Melo reported that DIVE CAPTAIN (6.55 lengths) took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey A Marcus signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse GEORGINA ROSE more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey A Marcus the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey A Marcus struck the horse GEORGINA ROSE, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey A Marcus used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed. d) PETRA (S Randolph), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
