BYPASS was slow into stride. GREAT SUCCESS was restless in the stalls. BYPASS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Puller was questioned with regard to the improved performance of BYPASS compared to this gelding's previous performance. Trainer Puller had no explanation other than the fact that a number of horses in his yard had been suffering from a virus and in his opinion, this may have accounted for BYPASS's previous performance. The Board noted his explanation. EIGHT SUMMERS, KHARTOUM and SECRET MESSENGER over-raced in the early stages. TOLTEC shifted inwards into the crop in the latter stages. ROY'S PIANO became cramped and was forced to steady shortly before the finish. Scratched: IT'S MY WAY - abscess right hind.
