EN-ROUTE TO THE START JOCKEY D SCHWARZ WAS DISLODGED FROM CHLOE GIRL WHICH BOLTED. THIS FILLY WAS TAKEN IN HAND AND SUBSEQUENTLY SCRATCHED BY THE COURSE VETERINARY SURGEON. THE COURSE PARAMEDICS AFTER ATTENDING TO JOCKEY SCHWARZ WERE LATE IN ARRIVING AT THE START. THESE INCIDENTS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MANDHUKAI (*J R Syster) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) TINDERS CHOICE (G Lerena) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) CHLOE GIRL bolted the course dislodging Jockey D Schwarz. Trainer F P Habib was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future, she may be suspended (DR). b) As the start was effected, MANDHUKAI (*J R Syster) jumped outwards making contact with the left side starting stalls gate which resulted in Apprentice Syster becoming dislodged shortly thereafter. c) Apprentice L J Ferraris reported that he felt something amiss with EXTRAVERT in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. d) Apprentice K Matsunyane reported that MYNAGE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) ONLY THE BRAVE (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P F Matchett advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) MYNAGE was ridden by Apprentice K Matsunyane (declared 8 October 2020 at 07H56). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) CHLOE GIRL raced equipped with a pressure halter (declared 2 October 2020 at 10H30). b) RUNAROUND SUE raced equipped with blinkers (declared 6 October 2020 at 10H18). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) EXTRAVERT not striding out left hind. b) MYNAGE abnormal respiratory noise, choked up. SCRATCHED: a) LHASA STAR insufficient recovery time (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). b) CHLOE GIRL bolted the course, abrasion left front knee (NHA / 12H34) (Rule 53.5 applies). Suitable for reinstatement.
