HERTOG (*K Matsunyane) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 1200m, HERTOG (*K Matsunyane) after being slow away, took an awkward stride when awkwardly placed on the heels of AFTER HOURS (L Hewitson). b) Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with THE SANDS in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. THE SANDS cast its left front shoe in running. c) Apprentice P Mxoli was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse WHIPPING BOY more than twelve times in the entire race. Apprentice Mxoli signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R750 was imposed. d) AFTER HOURS (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S J Gray advised (AH). e) WHIPPING BOY (*P Mxoli), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer T Zackey advised (MdP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) KINGS ARCHER was ridden by Apprentice J R Syster who claimed a 2.5kg allowance (declared 8 October 2020 at 07H35). b) THE SANDS was ridden by Jockey S Khumalo.
