During the loading process, VICOMTE became restless in the stalls, broke open the front gates, dislodged Jockey de Melo and bolted the course. This gelding was subsequently withdrawn by the Course Veterinary Surgeon. As a consequence of VICOMTE being restless, THEWAYWEMAKEM also broke through the front gate and was brought under control by Jockey Danielson after galloping for approximately 500m. This gelding was returned to the start, inspected by the Course Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run. These incidents caused a delay to the start of this Race. The Starting Stall Certificate for VICOMTE has been withdrawn. CASCIANO lost one length. In view of the Starter's report with regard to VICOMTE, this gelding has been suspended for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable in the starting stalls. VICOMTE may not be presented for repassing during this period. CANNES was hanging in, in the concluding stages. CASCIANO was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. CASCIANO carried 55kg with a merit rating of 62 (winner Vaal Racecourse, 30 September 2017). Scratched: RAMBO - insufficient recovery time. VICOMTE - bolted the course. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
