THE STARTER REPORTED
A) YOUNG IDEAS and GIMME A WISH were slow into stride.
B) SOHO SPIRIT was slow away and slow 2 lengths.
C) RYANAIR was nervous, jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls, was slow away and lost 4 lengths.
D) FIELD DANCER was nervous, jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls, threw its head down, was slow away and lost 2 lengths.
E) LEADER OF THE PACK was stubborn loading.
F) PRINCESS OF FIRE was nervous in the stalls and reared as the start was effected.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED
A) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning LIVE MY DREAM, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer J V A Strydom was advised.
B) Trainer M L Turner was spoken to concerning her conduct in the Stipendiary Stewards Boardroom following this race.
C) The Stewards reviewed the start of this race with regard to RYANAIR (D R Lerena) in stall gate 2 and established that this filly got its head into stall gate 1. As the start was effected the Handler who had attempted to correct the filly, still had hold of her head resulting in RYANAIR losing 4 lengths. Whilst the Stewards accepted that this filly had lost significant ground as a result of this incident, the provisions of Rule 61.5.10.2 were enacted and RYANAIR was declared to be a runner. The Starter will be interviewed regarding this incident.
After being slow away RYANAIR (D R Lerena) pulled hard in the early stages, raced wide on the bend and raced to the front of the field at the 500m.
D) Leaving the 400m, FIELD DANCER (G Cheyne) switched out to continue its run.
E) The winner PRINCESS OF FIRE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer J V A Strydom advised (LM).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES
A) CHAI Apprentice L J Ferraris replaced Jockey L Hewitson (07:23 - 09/10/2020).
B) LIVE MY DREAM raced equipped with alumites front, unshod behind and a tongue tie (07:23 - 09/10/2020).
C) FIELD DANCER raced equipped with blinkers (10:35 - 08/10/2020).
