PHOTOCOPY stumbled shortly after the start. MANAFTERMIDNIGHT began awkwardly outwards losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. SEA CHANGE began awkwardly losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. SALTOTO RIDGE was slow to begin. Jockey Byleveld reported that SCARLET REBEL did not stride out freely in running. FAKE NEWS pulled hard in the early stages. SALTORO RIDGE and FAKE NEWS were cramped for galloping room on the inside of PHOTOCOPY shortly after the start. Jockey Khathi, the rider of PHOTOCOPY, appeared before the Board and was advised to ensure that he gives sufficient room to runners on his inside. SCARLET REBEL was carried wide on the early part of the bend by RISKY RAMBO, which was hanging out. SHADOW WARRIOR, which was hanging in, in the straight had to steady off the heels of SALTORO RIDGE approaching the 200m. MAX POWER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: SCARLET REBEL - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. Scratched: WEMIBONO - coughing.
