The start of this Race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race. WILL PAYS and MATADOR MAN lost one length. Jockey Khumalo reported that MATADOR MAN did not act in the going. In view of the performance of MATADOR MAN, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Yeni reported that CORAL FEVER did not act in the going. Shortly before the finish line, NEW PREDATOR (AUS) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed between FINCHATTON, and WILL PAYS, which was hanging in from the 300m. WONDERWALL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: MATADOR MAN - speedy cut right front. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed. AFTER THE RUNNING OF RACE 7, A SECOND PROTEST WAS LODGED BY THE JOCKEYS CONCERNING THE SAFETY OF THE TRACK PARTICULARLY AT THE 800M. A PANEL WAS FORMED IN TERMS AND A TRACK INSPECTION WAS CARRIED OUT. AFTER EVIDENCE WAS PUT FORWARD BY THE JOCKEY AND TRAINER REPRESENTATIVES, THE PANEL WAS OF THE UNANIMOUS OPINION THAT THE TRACK CONDITIONS HAD DETERIORATED SIGNIFICANTLY AND WAS UNSAFE TO CONTINUE RACING. THEREFORE RACES 8 AND 9 WERE ABANDONED.
