SHINE UP, LAND OF THE GODS and BLACK MARINER were slow into stride. REGENT SEVEN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. The saddle on MAJESTIC SWORD slipped sideways in the early stages, resulting in Apprentice Moodley being unable to fully assist this gelding. Near the 800 metre mark, MAJESTIC SWORD was hanging in on the bend and shifted in despite the efforts of Apprentice Moodley, resulting in INHERIT THE WIND being steadied and switched out carrying REGENT SEVEN outwards. Near the 400 metre mark, KING'S MUSIC was switched out off the heels of VESTED INTEREST to obtain a clear run making contact with BLACK MARINER, resulting in BLACK MARINER being unbalanced and carried outwards. Thereafter BLACK MARINER and BALLYMAINE were cramped on the outside of KING'S MUSIC and BLACK MARINER was thereafter switched in for a clear run. An Inquiry will be held into this incident. AIR SALUTE was hanging out in the final straight. Jockey de Melo reported LAND OF THE GODS was not striding out freely in running. Jockey Randolph reported BALLYMAINE took no interest in running. In view of the performances of AIR SALUTE, KING'S MUSIC and BLACK MARINER, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. REGENT SEVEN raced fitted with alumites both fore and unshod behind. Vet: AIR SALUTE and BLACK MARINER - lame right hind. LAND OF THE GODS, BALLYMAINE and KING'S MUSIC - nothing obvious detected. The Course Farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
