SEA LORD and WARNEY lost 1 length. ASHOKA jumped awkwardly leaving the starting stalls. An inquiry will be opened into Workrider Dadamasi's ride of TREMENDOUS in the concluding stages of the race. Workrider Mthembu signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention, read with Guideline C on the use of the crop, in that he struck the horse MOONEY more than three times on consecutive strides. He was suspended from riding in one workriders' race. When questioned regarding his ride on MOONEY, Workrider Mthembu explained to the Board that this colt had over-raced in the early stages and when attempting to take another hold at approximately the 1500m to ease his mount, the reins slipped, which resulted in MOONEY racing further ahead of the field than he had wanted. ASHOKA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Anderson was questioned regarding the improved performance of ASHOKA. He could offer the Board no suitable explanation. His attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out Running. Vet: ESCAMILLO - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: COLLEGIATE - insufficient recovery time. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
