The start of this Race was delayed while the starting stalls were realigned. ONE MORE ROUND was stubborn and reluctant to load, kicked. MONEY BUYS LOVE jumped awkwardly losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. In view of the report from the Starter concerning ONE MORE ROUND, Trainer Ennion will be advised that this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn. Jockey Marwing reported that SEXY ED made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. Approaching the 300m, DESTINY DUCHESS was brushed outwards by CHINKAPIN, which shifted out slightly. Approaching the 200m, DESTINY DUCHESS changed stride, shifted inwards and brushed the hindquarters of CHINKAPIN. Approaching the 100m, CHINKAPIN shifted outwards and brushed DESTINY DUCHESS, which resulted in both horses making contact, and both horses becoming unbalanced for a number of strides. A Member of the Stipendiary Board and Trainer Crawford called for a race review, and Trainer Crawford lodged an Objection on the grounds of interference in the straight. The Board after reviewing the patrol films and having regard to the evidence submitted by all parties during the Objection, and consideration given to the distance of 0.50 between the two horses at the finish was satisfied that but for the interference DESTINY DUCHESS would not have finished in front of CHINKAPIN and overruled the Objection. The deposit was refunded. Jockey van Niekerk was charged with a contravention in that, as the rider of CHINKAPIN, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to DESTINY DUCHESS. Jockey van Niekerk signed an Admission of Guilt and in view of his record was suspended from riding in races for a period of 10 days. In view of the report from the Veterinary Surgeon regarding SEXY ED, Trainer Stewart will be advised that he will be required to notify the Stipendiary Board when he next enters SEXY ED, in order that the Stipendiary Board and a nominated Veterinary Surgeon, may pass her fit to race. CHINKAPIN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: SEXY ED - returned making a respiratory noise. Scratched: DUNTOCHE - coughing. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure. Several Jockeys and Apprentices were selected for the taking of breathalyser tests and urine samples for analysis.
