THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PERFECT PETER (W Kennedy) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Apprentice K Brewer (QUICK STAR) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. b) In the closing stages, QUICK STAR (*K Brewer) was brushed in by SPECIAL BLEND (L Hewitson) which was hanging in at the 250m. c) AMOR ARDIENTE (G Wright) over-raced in the early and middle stages. d) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning AMOR ARDIENTE, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer W Badenhorst was advised. (Suspension Dates : 12.10.20 to the 10.12.20, bdi) e) Jockey A Arries signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse NEWS STREAM more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey A Arries the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey A Arries struck the horse NEWS STREAM the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey A Arries used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1500 was imposed. f) NEWS STREAM (A Arries), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Dixon advised (DA). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) NEWS STREAM raced with cheek pieces (advised 11.10.20/7h29). b) PERFECT PETER raced with a tongue tie (advised 09.10.20/11h11). c) GIMME PEACE Jockey S Veale weighed out at 53.5kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight of 53kg. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) AMOR ARDIENTE : Bi-lateral epistaxis. 60 days suspension
