The start of this Race was delayed due to the late positioning of the starting stalls. MERYSAGOS was slow into stride. BONGO DANCE and POCKET ROCKET were slow away and lost 1 length each. SEATTLE FLAME and MERYSAGOS over-raced in the early stages. COPPER TRAIL was cramped for galloping room and eased between DESERT CHIEF and ROMMEL, which shifted inward away from the crop shortly before the finish. Jockey Khathi appeared before the Board and was advised to take more care when shifting ground in the future. Jockey Mxothwa reported that he felt something amiss with SACRED ORATION in the running and he did not persevere with his ride over the final 200 metres. Jockey Maujean reported that POCKET ROCKET was not striding out freely in the running and he did not persevere with his ride over the final 300 metres. PACK LEADER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. POCKET ROCKET raced with cheek pieces. Vet: SACRED ORATION - speedy cut medial fetlock left hind, not striding out left hind. ROMMEL - abnormal respiratory noise. COPPER TRAIL - not striding out in front. POCKET ROCKET - checked post race, nothing obvious detected.
