BALUSTRADE lost two lengths. ROMAN BALLERINA jumped inwards leaving the stalls. TWIRL over-raced in the early and middle stages. Thereafter Jockey Lerena reported that he felt something amiss with TWIRL in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. At approximately the 200m, RAKSHA had to ease when awkwardly placed on the heels of BALUSTRADE. At approximately the 150m, INTHEPURPLERAIN shifted out away from the crop. Apprentice Hewitson reported that OF INTEREST took no interest in running. In view of the performance of ZULU DAWN, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. INTHEPURPLERAIN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. When questioned regarding the improved performance of INTHEPURPLERAIN, Trainer Dawson explained to the Board that in this filly's run on the 12th of October 2017, she had been severely hindered by a badly bent shoe and this was the reason for the poor performance. Vet: OF INTEREST - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. TWIRL - coughing. ZULU DAWN - not striding out left front. Scratched: OUR SHINING STAR - off feed. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
