THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CAPTAIN OF STEALTH (G Cheyne) was slow into stride. b) RUN RED (R Danielson) jumped inwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RUN RED (R Danielson) and MERAKI (AUS) (G van Niekerk) brushed at the 550m. b) At the 300m, while attempting a narrow run between SPECTRA FORCE (C Murray) and HURRICANE HARRY (*X Jacobs), SEVENTH GEAR (K de Melo) brushed HURRICANE HARRY (*X Jacobs) inwards when SPECTRA FORCE (C Murray) rolled in slightly. c) SUPER SILVANO (A Marcus) was hanging in in the straight. d) In view of the performance of RUN RED (R Danielson) which was hanging out on the bend, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey C Murray appeared before the Board and was advised against the practice of using his crop with his crop arm above shoulder height. f) SEVENTH GEAR, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
