THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RACHEL (W Kennedy) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Leaving the 150m, FLAMING DESIRE (*T Gumede) shifted in to continue its run when awkwardly placed on the heels of GLITTER AND GOLD (S Moodley) which shifted out away from the crop from the 200m. A race review was called into this incident which was followed by an objection being lodged by Apprentice T Gumede on behalf of the second placed horse (FLAMING DESIRE) against the winner (GLITTER AND GOLD) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Board considered that after FLAMING DESIRE had shifted in to continue its run, it did not appear to be finishing its race off strongly enough to race past GLITTER AND GOLD. This view was supported by the distance between GLITTER AND GOLD (S Moodley) and FLAMING DESIRE (*T Gumede) at the finish which was 0.80 lengths. Consequently, the Board could not be satisfied that but for the above incident, FLAMING DESIRE would have finished ahead of GLITTER AND GOLD. Therefore, the Board overruled the objection and the Judge's result was allowed to stand. Apprentice T Gumede's deposit was refunded. From a sanction perspective, the Board has adjourned to review this incident. b) Approaching the 150m, WINTERTIME (N Patel) was momentarily inconvenienced when it improved into a narrow run between STARLIGHT (M Yeni) and RACHEL (W Kennedy). c) Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with STARLIGHT (12.75 lengths) in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performances of RACHEL (W Kennedy) (9.10 lengths), ALRAUNE (A Arries) (12.50 lengths) and CRIMSON CASTLE (*J Gates) (26.15 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) GLITTER AND GOLD (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Forbes advised (TN). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) RACHEL raced equipped with blinkers (advised 14.10.20/7h37). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) STARLIGHT : Nothing obvious detected. b) RACHEL : Not striding out left hind. c) ALRAUNE : Nothing obvious detected. d) CRIMSON CASTLE : Not striding out right hind.
