THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) COLDHARDCASH (M Yeni) was stubborn to load.
b) KINGSMEAD (S Moodley) stood losing many lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) Leaving the 800m, in a tightly bunched field, WINTER BLUES (*G Pieterse), CANDY GALORE (W Kennedy) and FILIPPO (A Arries) were awkwardly placed on the inside of WOLFGANG (K de Melo) which rolled in marginally.
b) DI MAZZIO (AUS) (*K Strydom) raced wide around the turn and into the straight.
c) TRACES (AUS) (A Marcus) was hanging in from the 300m, proving difficult to assist.
d) Apprentice K Strydom (DI MAZZIO) (AUS) briefly dropped his right side rein at the 300m.
e) STAR OF JOBURG (*T Gumede) and WOLFGANG (K de Melo) were hanging in from the 300m.
f) In view of the performances of CANDY GALORE (W Kennedy) (8.20 lengths) and WINTER BLUES (*G Pieterse) (7.60 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
g) In view of the Starter's report with regard to KINGSMEAD (S Moodley), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 15.10.20 to the 21.10.20. KINGSMEAD may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer M Roberts was advised. (SN)
h) Jockey A Arries signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse FILIPPO more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey A Arries the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey A Arries struck the horse FILIPPO the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey A Arries used his crop and his record (4) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R2500 was imposed.
i) TRACES (AUS) (A Marcus), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer P Muscutt acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford advised (ML).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) KINGSMEAD Jockey S Moodley weighed out at 53.8kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight of 53kg.
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER :
a) Nil.
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED :
a) CANDY GALORE : Nothing obvious detected.
b) WINTER BLUES : Not striding out left hind.
