THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start for all runners. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, BRUNILDA (L Hewitson), YAAS (W Agrella) and HUPERNIKAO (*J Gates) were awkwardly placed on the inside of HEY ROYAL MAJESTY (B Jacobson) which jumped in and MY WICKED WAYS (*J Mphanya) which rolled out marginally. b) BRUNILDA (L Hewitson) was hanging in from the 200m. Thereafter, Jockey L Hewitson dropped his right side rein shortly before the finish, which he only regained after the finish. c) In the concluding stages, YAAS (W Agrella) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the heels of MATADORA'S PARADE (K de Melo) which shifted out away from the crop marginally and COLOUR OF LIGHT (M Yeni) which rolled in at the 100m. d) Jockey S Veale (NAOSHIMA) dropped his right side rein leaving the 150m which he only regained after the finish. e) Apprentice J Jacobs (MAGICALLEE) had his crop struck from his hand by Apprentice T Gumede (VASE) at the 100m. f) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse NAOSHIMA more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Veale the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey S Veale struck the horse NAOSHIMA the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Veale used his crop, the fact that he won the Race and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1500 was imposed. g) An Inquiry will be opened into Jockey L Hewitson's crop use on BRUNILDA in this Race. h) NAOSHIMA (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer S Ferrie acting on behalf of Trainer D Drier advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) MATADORA'S PARADE raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (advised 13.10.20/18h20). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) No report. SCRATCHINGS : a) WHAT A SARAH : Reserve runner
