The lead pony with LOOKING AT STARS was reluctant to proceed to the start, which caused a delay. CHAMPAGNE GRACE, which was restless in the stalls, was slow into stride. LOOKING AT STARS was slow losing one length. Apprentice Hewitson reported that CHAMPAGNE GRACE did not stride out freely in running. Jockey Dillon reported that the felt something amiss with VASE in running, and he did not persevere with his riding over the final 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the filly on her return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. Trainer Nel was requested to report back to the Stewards on the filly's condition on her return to the stables. At about the 250m, VICE VERSA, which raced green, brushed the hindquarters of MISS SMARTY PANTS thereafter VICE VERSA was awkwardly placed on the heels MISS SMARTY PANTS and had to steady at the 50m. HAMMIE'S FAN and OMEGA FORCE brushed shortly before the finish. OMEGA FORCE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. THE DONEGAL MAN raced fitted with ear muffs. Vet: CHAMPAGNE GRACE - returned not striding out on the right fore. VASE - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. Scratched: SAN ROCHELLE - coughing.
