The start of this Race was delayed due to a heavy downpour followed by an electric storm close to the race track. FIRST IN LINE jumped with her head up leaving the starting stalls losing two lengths. MISS MILANNA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. FIRST IN LINE jumped awkwardly outwards leaving the starting stalls and thereafter was hanging out in the early stages and was difficult to assist. KINSKY'S CRUSADE over-raced in the early stages. WILD HUSHPUPPY was carried outwards slightly by EXCELLISTIC (AUS) near the 300 metre mark. Jockey Yeni, the rider of RUB OF THE GREEN, had his crop accidentally struck from his hand by Jockey Marcus, the rider of EXCELLISTIC (AUS), approaching the 50 metre mark. Jockey Godden reported that he felt something amiss with EMPRESS ADELAIDE in the closing stages. Jockey Mgudlwa reported FOREIGN CANDY was not striding out freely in the closing stages. EMPRESS ADELAIDE cast the right fore shoe en route to the start which could not be re-fitted resulting in the left fore shoe being removed and this filly racing unshod in front. Vet: EMPRESS ADELAIDE and FOREIGN CANDY - coughing. WILD HUSHPUPPY - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: CATSKILL QUEEN (NZ) - abnormal blood count. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure. After the running of Race 2, there was a further electric storm in close proximity to the race track, following unabated lightning as well as the earlier one hour delay, the remainder of the race meeting was abandoned.
