The start of this Race was delayed due to the 30-minute interval between races 8 and 9 and the delay in the previous race. FORTISSIMA, SAVE THE RHINO and ILITSHE (AUS) lost 1 length. BONDIBLU flyjumped leaving the stalls. In view of the performance from COOL CHARDONNAY, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Zackey reported that BANKABLE TEDDY did not stride out freely in running. When questioned regarding his ride on RUN RHINO RUN, Jockey Kennedy explained to the Board that his instructions were to allow this gelding to stride freely and to not restrain him. As a result of this RUN RHINO RUN had run wide round the first turn and into the back straight. Thereafter RUN RHINO RUN had tired badly and commenced to give ground to the field from the 1000m. As a consequence of this he had elected not to persevere with his ride from this point onwards. FORTISSIMA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ILITSHE (AUS) raced equipped with alumite shoes in front, unshod behind. Vet: COOL CHARDONNAY - lame left hind. BANKABLE TEDDY - fatigued.
