THE STARTER REPORTED
A) SNOW BABY GO (L Bester) was stubborn loading.
B) JUST SO EASY (S Naidoo) proved unruly and refused to load. The starting stall certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. Trainer G D Smith was advised (DK).
C) STAVROS CHRISTOS (J Mariba) was stubborn loading.
D) LADY IN WAITING (G Cheyne) and BLUE SKY MINING (T Gould) were slow losing two lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED
A) The winner RYANAIR was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer M L Turner advised (LM).
B) Apprentice L J Ferraris, the rider of RYANAIR accidentally dropped his crop at the 300m. Thereafter leaving the 200m, KATHERINE THE WOW (L Hewitson) was brushed in marginally by RYANAIR (*L J Ferraris) which hung in. Shortly after the finish line, RYANAIR (*L J Ferraris), which continued to hang in, and KATHERINE THE WOW (L Hewitson) came together and bumped.
A race review was called into this incident, which was followed by an objection being lodged by the Rider (L Hewitson) of the second placed horse (KATHERINE THE WOW) against the winner (RYANAIR) on the grounds of interference and intimidation from the 200m. After considering the evidence in this matter, the Board overruled the objection and allowed the Judges result to stand. Jockey L Hewitson's deposit was refunded.
In arriving at this decision, the Board considered that notwithstanding the incident, KATHERINE THE WOW (L Hewitson) appeared to have every opportunity to race past RYANAIR (*L J Ferraris) in the concluding stages but failed to make up any significant ground, and, from the footage, and in particular the side-on angle, it appeared that RYANAIR (*L J Ferraris) always had the measure of KATHERINE THE WOW (L Hewitson).
C) In view of the Starter's report with regard to JUST SO EASY, this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 14 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading with a companion. Suspension dates: 17.10.2020 to 30.10.2020. JUST SO EASY may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer G D Smith was advised.
