CUTTING EDGE and SYLVESTER THE CAT were slow into stride. MARSHALL THAT and NEALA were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer Roscoe, acting on behalf of Trainer Gordon, was questioned regarding the improved performance of MARSHALL THAT was compared to this gelding's previous run on the 12th November 2017. She explained to the Board that the distance of a mile on that occasion was, in her opinion, too far and that this gelding was better suited to the shorter distance of tonight's race. Her explanation was noted and Miss Roscoe has undertaken to race this gelding over similar distances in future. In view of the performances of CUTTING EDGE, KINGSTON BOY, JUST VOGUE and SYLVESTER THE CAT, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. Jockey de Melo reported ARABIAN BEAT was changing legs continuously in running. RODNEY raced with his tongue tied down. Vet: CUTTING EDGE - lame left hind. KINGSTON BOY, JUST VOGUE, SYLVESTER THE CAT and ARABIAN BEAT - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: TROJAN HARBOUR (AUS) - not eating up.
