THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LOVE TO BLUFF dislodged Jockey M Nyamagwete, was caught and brought back to the start, was checked by the Course Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race. b) CHRISTOFLE (R Satombo) was slow away losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 150m, ARMSTRONG (H Greyling) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed between LOVE TO BLUFF (M Nyamagwete) and CHRISTOFLE (R Satombo) which shifted out and was immediately straightened. b) Assistant Trainer V Birketoft appeared before the Stipendiary Board and was questioned into the improved running of GOLDEN LION. She could offer no suitable explanation. Ms V Birketoft was reminded about the Rules pertaining to inconsistent running. c) GOLDEN LION, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
