During the loading process ATLANTIC SHORE was restless in the stalls, which resulted in HE'S GREAT, HIGHLAND HERO and TONIUS breaking through the front gates. HIGHLAND HERO and TONIUS were restrained by their respective riders, returned to the start, inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon and declared fit to race. HE'S GREAT, on breaking through, bolted and galloped the course. When attempting to restrain this gelding, the bridle became undone, making it very difficult to restrain HE'S GREAT, which galloped back to the start. HE'S GREAT was brought in hand and withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon, causing a significant delay to the start of this Race. Thereafter the loading process commenced again. Trainer Binda, Trainer Erasmus and Trainer de Kock were advised to re-school their respective horses prior to their next engagement. DIVINE ODYSSEY lost 1 length. HIGHLAND HERO was hanging out throughout. PIUS OIL was hanging out from the 600m. RAISE A FLAG and NOORDWES commenced to give ground to the field from the 300m. SIR SPENCER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. PIUS OIL raced equipped with alumite shoes in front, unshod behind. Vet: LEONIDAS MY KING - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: HE'S GREAT - bolted and galloped the course. WHITE WINTER - ineligible, winner 7 December 2017. SOME SONG - insufficient recovery time.
