RED EIGHT turned its head sideways, was slow losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. MILDEN SPELL reared in the stalls. The start was reviewed regarding RED EIGHT in stall gate 2, which had its head sideways as the start was effected, but was not impeded and therefore the gelding was declared to be a runner. In view of the report from the Starter concerning MILDEN SPELL, Trainer Snaith will be advised to have this gelding re-schoooled before its next engagement. Jockey Mxothwa, the rider of JOINERS ARMS, dropped his crop approaching the 200m and thereafter shifted out in the latter stages. Jockey Mxothwa appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger measures to keep his mount on a straight course in future. MILDEN SPELL was cramped for galloping room when awkwardly placed between JOINERS ARMS and SILVER MASTER shortly before the finish. TALK OF THE TOWN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. RED EIGHT raced fitted with a full set of steel shoes.
