THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SAN ANDREAS (C Maujean) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) WINE TASTING (W Kennedy) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, TANZANITE QUEEN (S Khumalo) was bumped by SAN ANDREAS (C Maujean) which jumped outwards. b) At approximately the 1200m SAN ANDREAS (C Maujean) which commenced to over-race, clipped the heels of ASTRAL PLANE (D Schwarz). c) When questioned regarding his riding of TANZANITE QUEEN, Jockey S Khumalo explained to the Board that his intention was to race handy, but the bump he suffered shortly after the start, resulted in him being a lot further back than anticipated. He further explained that at approximately the 1200m where SAN ANDREAS (C Maujean) clipped heels and stumbled, affected his filly when she reacted to this incident. Jockey Khumalo also stated that TANZANITE QUEEN has a long leggy stride and he battled to gather her stride before entering the home straight. Once she had regained her stride, she ran on strongly towards the concluding stages of the race. His explanation was noted. d) At approximately the 200m, AFTER HOURS (L Hewitson) and SAN ANDREAS (C Maujean) were carried outwards by WINE TASTING (W Kennedy) which switched out off the heels of MALMOOS (*L J Ferraris) to obtain a clear run. e) MALMOOS (*L J Ferraris), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M F de Kock advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) SAN ANDREAS raced equipped with ear muffs (declared 17 October 2020 at 07H25). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ASTRAL PLANE cut into right hind hock. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
