There was a delay to the start of the 8th Race due to the previous race delays as well as MASTER SHOGUN having to be re-saddled at the start. BIG SI, NIGHT LOCK and SECRET SUCCESS lost 1 length. STORM RULER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. MASTER SHOGUN lost ground to the field in the early stages, which he regained approaching the 1200 metre mark. In view of the performance of MASTER SHOGUN, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. A tiring VARIETY ROMP shifted out entering the final straight, carrying SECRET SUCCESS and FIRST ANTHEM outwards. Jockey Mgudlwa reported VARIETY ROMP was not striding out freely in running. Vet: MASTER SHOGUN - nothing obvious detected. VARIETY ROMP - not striding out left hind. Scratched: HAMMIE'S GAME - Ownership out of order. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
