The start of this Race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race. Jockey Cheyne reported that MAMBA MANIA was not striding out freely in the running. DATA LINK shifted inward away from the crop passing the 250 metre mark and carried MAMBA MANIA inward for a stride. EARTHFLIGHT over-raced in the early and middle stages and compounded in the home straight. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. SAINT - LAZARE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Smith was questioned regarding the improved performance of SAINT - LAZARE compared to her previous race on the 24/11/2017. Trainer Smith could offer no suitable explanation and his attention was drawn to the rules pertaining to in and out running. Jockey Steyn signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for the contravention in that he failed to ride DATA LINK out to the end of the race. An Inquiry will be opened into the riding of STRAW RUM by Jockey Khathi in the closing stages. FIVE STAR DRIVE raced without a tongue tie. MOCHA TO GO raced with a tongue tie. Vet: MAMBA MANIA - not striding out left front. EARTHFLIGHT - checked post race, nothing obvious detected. STRAW RUM - abnormal respiratory noise.
