THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUINLAN (W Agrella) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) GOOD RHYTHM (*K Strydom) was hanging out around the turn and into the straight. b) HUDOO MAGIC (AUS) (A Marcus) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. c) Jockey W Kennedy reported that REBEL'S CHAMP (2.85 lengths, 33/10 in the betting) took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performances of QUINLAN (W Agrella) (9.85 lengths) and SOLID GOLD (S Moodley) (7.35 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Trainer W Whitehead appeared before the Board and was questioned with regard to the improved performance of HARD TO PLAY, compared to this gelding's previous performance on the 27 September 2020. In this regard, she explained that in this gelding's last run on the 27 September 2020, 1400m may have been too far, in particular, as this gelding was having its second run after an enforced lay-off. Today, however, it was this gelding's third run after the above lay-off and with improved fitness and the drop back in distance to 1200m, HARD TO PLAY returned to its previous consistent form. The Board noted Trainer Whitehead's explanation which was corroborated by the form of HARD TO PLAY which upon analysis revealed this gelding's excellent record over 1200m and in particular over course and distance. f) HARD TO PLAY (S Randolph), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W Whitehead advised (DA). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) BLACKBALL raced with a cornell collar. b) HUDOO MAGIC (AUS) raced without blinkers (advised 14.10.20/8h55). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) REBEL'S CHAMP : Not striding out left fore. b) QUINLAN : Nothing obvious detected. c) SOLID GOLD : Cut into left fore.
