PRINCE OF PROMISE was slow into stride. TRILLION STARS lost one length. THE NORTH FACE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Howells was questioned with regard to the improved performance of THE NORTH FACE compared to this gelding's previous performances. He attributed the improvement shown to having removed the head gear for today's race. Furthermore he stated that in his opinion, THE NORTH FACE is better suited to the longer distance of today's race. Mr Howells undertook to race this gelding without head gear and over this distance or further in his future engagements. The Board noted the explanation and the future performances of THE NORTH FACE will be monitored. Jockey Wrogemann reported that he felt something amiss with HOMETOWN HERO in running. Jockey Brown, the rider of ARRANO, and Apprentice De Gouveia, the rider of TRILLION STARS, reported their respective mounts took no interest in running. Vet: HOMETOWN HERO - fatigued. ARRANO - fatigued and blowing. TRILLION STARS - fatigued Scratched: DELTA KNIGHT - insufficient recovery time.
