THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start for all runners. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) COLOUR MY FATE (S Veale) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) Shortly before the finish, QUICK STAR (A Marcus) was bumped in by GOLDEN DUKE (W Kennedy) which shifted in away from the crop. A race review was called into this incident which was followed by an objection being lodged by Jockey A Marcus on behalf of the second placed horse (QUICK STAR) against the winner (GOLDEN DUKE) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After considering the evidence in this matter which included that of Jockey A Marcus and Jockey W Kennedy, the Board overruled the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Board considered the proximity of the bump to the finish, the distance of 0.20 of a length between these two horses at the finish, the fact that GOLDEN DUKE (W Kennedy) itself was unbalanced by this incident, and that from the side on angle, in particular, it could not be definitively established that QUICK STAR (A Marcus) had gathered sufficient momentum to race past GOLDEN DUKE (W Kennedy) prior to the incident in question. Consequently, the Board could not be satisfied that but for the above incident, QUICK STAR would have finished ahead of GOLDEN DUKE. Therefore, the Board overruled the objection and the Judge's result was allowed to stand. Jockey A Marcus' deposit was refunded. c) In view of the performance of DUTCH ALLEY (K de Melo) (16.15 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) GOLDEN DUKE (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P Peter advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) BRAZIL NUT raced with alumites (advised 13.10.20/10h02). b) APACHE TOO raced with ear muffs (advised 18.10.20/8h29). c) MASHARI Jockey G Wright weighed out at 53.1kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight of 52.5kg. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) DUTCH ALLEY : Nothing obvious detected. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS
